Little Pickle Press Names Lee Wind Vice President of Digital, Communications, and Community Engagement

(SAN FRANCISCO, California–September 29, 2015) At Little Pickle Press, Lee Wind has been appointed Vice President, Digital, Communications, and Community Engagement, reporting to Founder and CEO, Rana DiOrio, where in her words, “He will work to vision and develop the integration of digital, social media, and live events with the character education and emotional intelligence-focus of our stories.” He has been (and will continue as) the freelance blogger and head of Team Blog for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), as well as his own award-winning blog for LGBTQ teens and their allies, I’m Here. I’m Queer. What the Hell Do I Read?

“Lee’s background in education, rich experience in digital media, mastery of social media and building community, respect for diversity and its importance in children’s media, and boundless energy and enthusiasm make him an especially welcome addition to Team Pickle,” DiOrio said.

Recently named SCBWI Member of the Year, Wind said, “This is a position where my last 11 years in the world of children’s literature – blogging, interviewing, writing, radio-show producing, conference organizing, panel moderating, school visiting, diversity advocating, community building, and of course, reading, reading, reading – all come together to help me tell the world about Little Pickle Press’ stories. Stories that will make our world a better place. It’s a perfect match!”

Additionally, Wind holds a Masters Degree in Education from Harvard and has worked as a freelance television editor (for, among others, Black Entertainment Television) and as a digital cataloguer for the Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation.
